Instructor World offer battery care courses.
The battery provides the power for your electric truck, and with
regular checks should have a long life.
In the wrong
hands a battery can kill or seriously injure someone if they fail to
carry out a battery check correctly. This could happen
if the operator fails to wear any protective equipment or there are no
warning signs for them to look at.
Do you have an eyewash station nearby? What would you do if they
received burns from the battery acid, or if they had been overcome by
fumes? If you did have a spillage what is your course of action? Do
your operators know how to check or top up the fluid levels correctly?
Do you know what
a replacement battery could cost? We would estimate at around
£1000.
The replacement costs would become your responsibility should an
operator become negligent in safety and maintenance.
We can offer you our battery care course which will teach your
operators how to check the battery safely without any risk to the
operator, showing them in detail how to record the condition of the
battery.

It is estimated that each year there are over 7000 reportable
injuries involving lift trucks.
These injuries, some fatal, cause suffering for those involved and
their dependants.
They also create a heavy cost on the employer's business - even an
incident not involving injury may result in costly damage to trucks,
buildings, fittings and the loads being handled.
Fork-lift truck accidents are frequently associated with lack of
suitable operator training.
Such training is essential and is the first step in reducing damage
and injury to key personnel.
